Anyone An Aopa Member?

Wed Oct 17, 2007 12:21 am

Just wondered if anyone on a.net is a member of AOPA. I am thinking about joining and I was just wondering if it was a good investment. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Been a member since 1964. It's worth ever penny of the very reasonable dues, and the magazine is great, too.

Thats what I was hoping to hear. It seems like a great investment for what you get in return

"Member since 1997" According to my AOPA card  Wink

Worth every cent, IMHO...

The (optional) legal services protection is one of the best benefits of membership, as are the car rental discounts.

I'm just sad that they discontinued the FBO rebate program (when you used your AOPA credit card...)  crying

For years now. No complaints.

Me too. GA needs an advocate with all the BS that the airlines like to push blaming the little guys for all the delays. The magazine is pretty good, and I think their Flight Training publication is fantastic.

This is coming from an airline pilot.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably look into getting a membership. I am headed back to OSU in January and I am planning on getting back into flying then. Still have to get a medical though

I thought my Costco membership was the best use of $39/yr until I realised how much the AOPA does for us aviators. Plus Bank of America extended a $20k line of credit for use towards a PPL or any other aviation related expense at a super low APR - worked out quite well since I put what money I was going to use for the PPL into buying VMW when it was at $50!

I'm not, but my parents are and have been for years. My father is also a member of EAA. AOPA is by far the best advocate for general aviation.

Not to mention the 10% discount at Sporty's.  hissyfit

Do it!!  Big grin Seriously, they offer a lot of resources for pilots. At $39 it is a virtual steal.

Been a member since 1966. I know you are convinced, but to the other's out there lurking and are on the edge, sign up! As others have said, it's a great value. Even when money was too tight to keep up active flying, I kept the membership active.

I've been a member since 2000. The AOPA is out there fighting for the general aviation community and they've proven it time and time again.

I just received my 20-year membership pin. The magazine alone is enough reason to join. It is well worth it. As others said, the legal plan is a very good value as well.

Been a member for three years. Very reasonable dues, and their flight planning software is very good. They do a lot of good work regarding aviation safety, and are a great advocate for GA and private pilots. Worth every penny.

I agree, AOPA membership is definitely worth every penny, especially if you are a private pilot or any pilot! It's the cheapest thing in aviation other than watching someone else fly!

I've been a member since 1999. Great use of $39 if all you got was the magazine.

But for three years they've been putting out a MSFS aircraft for free download with the membership.

AOPA is a great advocate for GA.

I get both mags(pilot and flight training) so even if I haven't flown in awhile, I can still stay semi-current.

Been a member since '92 when I started taking flying lessons. I keep the magazines all over the place at my house. There is one in every room, including the bathroom. It's worth every penny and more.
