SQ A380 Published Timetable

Thu Oct 18, 2007 12:50 pm

Looks like SQ flight #221 (20:30 dep) SIN to SYD will be flown by A380, replacing their 774 starting Nov 01/07. Return will be #220 departing SYD at 08:50 and arriving back to Changi (SIN) at 13:45. Flight times published are 7:30 and 7:55 respectively. Reviewing their online timetable it seems that SQ will be keeping their first aircraft on this Kangaroo segment well into December.

Does anyone know when SQ plans to receive their second 380 and what route(s) are in consideration??

Glad to see SQ flying the new "Queen of the Skies".

SQ317 and SQ322 from SIN to LHR will be A380's (the next route), but I don't know when SQ plan to start this (I think it was 317, it could be 319)

What will the Aircraft do once it gets back to SIN at 13:45? It seems to me it will be there till 20:30.

Will the aircraft perform a short hop to some where in Asia, KUL, BKK, CVG etc like what they do on the A345?

They hinted at starting Tokyo starting with aircraft 4.

Had another look at Chew Choon Sengs comments (SQ CEO), with delivery of 2 & 3 SIN/LHR April, SIN/NRT in May with aircraft 4, and SIN/HKG/SFO starting with aircraft 5&6

Will the A380 do Tokyo as SQ 012 tag on to LAX, or one of the 9xx turnarounds back to SIN?

No it won't unless they plan to only run it 3x weekly for a start as they need 2 aircraft to maintain daily SIN-NRT-LAX service.

I think it's far more likely SQ will try to push for using the A380-800 on the SQ 001/002 route (SIN to SFO via HKG) as soon as possible. The reason is simple: this is SQ's most profitable route, even more so than SIN-LHR; the sector between HKG and SFO is highly desirable given the huge Hong Kong expatriate population that lives in northern California. I am estimating this may happen, especially now that the gates at the end of Concourse G at SFO now sport dual-level jet bridges.

I thought that the first six would be dedicated to LHR - SIN - SYD - SIN - LHR

Thats what I have been hearing anyway

A380 MSN 005 (second SIA aircraft) is scheduled to be delivered 02nd January 2008 FYI. Don't know yet if we can push this up forward a tad bit.

Well, if you manage to push it forward at least two days, then you can brag about how you delivered twice the number scheduled A380s in 2007  Big grin

Install the flux capacitator which allows the A380 to travel through time when it's passing 88 miles per hour?

This is the same guy who right after talking about how the 747 is 'yesterday's plane', he turned around and ordered the A330. Doesn't leave much to be desired.

There will always be one 'Queen of the Sky' and that is the 747. You can call the Whalejet whatever you want....King, mistress, whatever...just don't call her the Queen coz she'z not. The 747 revolutionized modern travel and definately deserves the title. Chew can say all he wants.

its also the same guy who happens to run one of the most respected airlines in the business that sets the benchmark in many areas, which kind of implies that he knows what he is doing, given the shark pond the airline business happens to be.

SQ is only leasing them, as interim lift starting delivery next year. Fairly smart move considering subsequently the 787 is now delayed. As far as I am aware they have also leased a 744 because of the A380 delays.

He does, and he signs the cheques.

Queens come and go, the "throne" is a position that is only ever held by a temporary incumbent.

Shareholders or potential investors of Boeing should take what he said on-board, no good in having a product if you cannot sell it, or the market does not see it as being competitive.

SQ has made similar flattering comments about other manufacturers in the past like Airbus and MCD, nothing you should get wound up about. I am sure you would not have had the same attitude in the 70s when they ordered their 747s.

The A330 was offerred to SIA as part of a compensation package for the delay in delivering the A380.

The queen is dead! Long live the queen! Big grin

Jokes apart, there's been a number of 'queens of the skies'. Waaay back, it was those elegant interwars Pan Am clippers, during WWII that unofficial title went to the B-17 and then the Connie got that surname. Methinks nothing is absolute in aeronautics, especially as time go by.

Sice those are kind of unofficial claims, I wouldn't give it importance. Then again, if it's true that the A380 is claiming the throne, I'd be inclined to bow the 747 as the plane that has got the crown for the longest time in all history.

everytime i have ever been on this flight, it was packed, and not to mention CX departs to HKG at roughly the same time, so seeing the A380 service to SFO would make it interesting for CX and i think SQ could easily fill the 380 95% of the time. i love flying CX, but if i had an opertunity to fly on the 380, i believe like most of us on here, i'd take the opertunity!!!!
