|Quoting Smed63 (Reply 3):|
Am I correct in thinking that the announced schedule adjustment from the summertime which affected many of the transcons (PHL-LAX, PHL-OAK, BWI-OAK, etc.) plus other adjustments "freed up" the equivalent of 8 or so aircraft?
Yes, Smed', that was discussed a while back when all those cuts were being made and I believe you might even be a little low on your count. (The xld transcons alone should have freed up right around 6 Canyon Blues.) But then there were flights added at the same time (e.g., DEN
) so I don't know exactly how many NET a/c are still "unaccounted for" and available for additional new flights, nor am I certain of upcoming delivery dates from Boeing.
I do know that there are ongoing reductions happening even in the released skeds (thru March); SAN
loses a SMF
frequency next February (taking us down to 102 TL
daily departures from a current high of 104.) Like LAX
is pretty close to gate gridlock so until more gate space can be obtained, I think we too (again, like LA
) will have to see flights cancelled in order for WN
to add anything new...
In any case, since there have been no new flights announced (via official P Rs) after 11/04, it is getting really late if they are going to start anything new in December or even January and I think they won't.
