Dubai Arshow 2007 - What To Expect

Mon Oct 22, 2007 6:56 am

Well... DXB2007 is just around the corner; 20 days before it opens its doors; and since there was so much speculation about what will be the highlights, I am starting this thread for all of you to set your imagination wild.

From my side am looking forward to:

- First EK A380 in full EK colors  hyper
- EK order 50 A350 + 50 options (or perhaps a full 100)  crossfingers

Your turn...

Regards,

That would be awesome and something I expect to happen.
Kuweit will place a big Airbus order.
It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

Boeing doesn't believe it will happen, so not counting on that one.

A350 order seems more likely though.

They also said that they did not expect an order last year before LH ordered.

This will shorten your waiting time. Big grin

I expect a massive A350 order by EK but I would not be surprised if we see a big 787 order too.  Smile

Wasn't QR expected to FINALLY announce their 787 order?

This order was booked as UFO by Boeing a long time ago and it was even made public 'by accident' by them during the roll-out ceremony, much to the dislike of QR so I have heard as the airline did not consider it an appropriate time to do so.

I wonder when Mr. Al-Bakr will deem the time right to make it official?

Could we see a JQ more A320's + A321's and maybe a QF order for more A380's and even some A350's instead of 787-10

I am waiting to see this one. Would an inside tour of the aircraft be allowed?

Any other displays from Airbus/Boeing?

I read on hear that Qantas Group is very unhappy with their A330 fleet, do you think that will impact on a future A350 order. I think they will stay loyal to Boeing except to the A380.

They are?
Seeing how popular the A330 has been and still is, Qantas must be the only ones on the entire planet not to be happy with them then!

What is correct however is that they have come to the conclusion they have ordered the wrong type of plane for the kind of mission profiles they are doing with it... nothing to do with the plane itself though!

Quoting OHLHD (Reply 10):
Akbar Al-Baker

Well, I am not so intimate with him to call him with his first name, so I prefer to call him Mr. Al-Bakr.  Wink

BTW: 'Al-Bakr' or 'Al-Baker': don't forget we are taking about an Arabic name which we are trying to write with Latin letters, so both are correct.

Sorry, but only Al-Baker is correct. Thats how we spell our family name

Moreover, I would expect ANA to announce an A380 order; I wish QR would announce the 787's formally (what types). Perhaps maybe a follow-up A380 order.

I also expect an EK A350 order. 50 firm + 50 options sounds about right.

They might also throw in a surprise and announce a smaller (25) 787-8 order to replace their A332 fleet. They might also exercise some or all of their 20 77W options.

If they announce a 747-8 order, it will be for their 10 freighter options they hold.

Dubai Arshow 2007 - What To Expect

The largest show in the 10 year history of the event;

Tenth Dubai Airshow to be the largest yet
By a staff reporter

7 October 2007

DUBAI — The Dubai Airshow, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is set to become the largest to date with up to 900 exhibitors from 47 countries and 11 pavilions.

“It is not just the size that is significant this year but the scale of new-to-market entrants and technology that will be on show,” said Alison Weller, Director, Aerospace Division of Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E), which organises the event.

Jordan expect to be "out in force at Dubai"

Jordan out in force at Dubai Airshow

A strong Jordanian aviation contingent, including The Royal Jordanian Air Force and Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Limited (JORAMCO), will fly the flag for the Kingdom at next month's Dubai Airshow 2007 - the 10th Anniversary edition of the biennial event which is now the third largest of its kind in the world.

http://www.ameinfo.com/135428.html

That's just a little bit of information floating around.

I doubt we'll see anything from QF Group, airshows aren't really their scene for making order announcements. Wouldn't rule out Air Arabia for 30 to 40 x A320 series. Finalisation of N.A.S. of Saudi Arabia's order for 20+20 x A320. Also some good sized orders for heavies such as confirmation of EKs A380 commitment made at Le Bourget and some new A330F orders. Expect further orders for ACJs, in particular, the A318 Elite.

I'd put QR down for more 777Fs, I believe 5 are already booked as Unidentified on Boeings website. Boeing have 193 Unidentified Orders on the books so we may see some of those orders disclosed. Plus a few new orders but they'll spread their product mix well across the whole Industry from Commercial to Military, like they do at most airshows.

As for the rest, no predictions, though I believe it will be good for the OEMS

Columba , have you more infos about this Kuwait aw order , or is it only a feeling coming from you ?

Airbus is pushing hard since the cancellation of the Alafco contract for A320s and 787s , with A320/21s , A330s , A340s and A350s to renew the entire KU fleet

EK deciding on 787/350 and signing of 8 380s
QR announcing that they bought 30 787s and a couple of 777Fs
EY informing on their 787/350 decision
SV pending decision on their new nb/wb fleet
Air Arabia deciding on 50 nb
Kuwait National Airways 30 nb decision
TK announcing their pending 20 wb order
OS announcing their pending 10 wb order
QF/Jetstar deciding on their new nb fleet and signing of 787s
GEACS will order 787s

Maybe signing of Yemenia and Bangkok 350 order
Maybe TAP, Air Europe decision on 350 conversion or 787s instead

and then we will see some of the following MOUs, announcements converted into contracts:

A: Air One, Vietnam, EI, BA, National Air Service, Air Asia, TAM, Kingfisher
B: BA, Lan, VS,

Quick note

QR had their flight attendant as part of the Dreamliner Rollout ceremony - so they were not trying to hide it too much, just perhaps officially as an announcement.

Gulf Air has stated that it will be ordering planes and that it has dropped its "Airbus-only" fleet policy.

snip:

The airline is shopping for new planes from America's Boeing and Europe's Airbus, having abandoned its earlier policy of sticking exclusively to the European maker.

...

The airline has already decided to lease two new Boeing 737s and is expected to place orders worth BD350 million for new wide-bodied jets, at next month's Dubai 2007 air show.

Step aside PARIS airshow. Dubai and the rest of the orient is the visible future. Who knows, in ten years manufacturers and suppliers might be all looking forward to RIO 2017 for massive orders?

Appears to be a tiny miss by just a couple of %:

NAS has said it has agreed to buy 20 A320 aircraft from Airbus and 60 jets from Gulfstream Aerospace Co (GD.N: Quote, Profile , Research), French Dassault Aviation (AVMD.PA: Quote, Profile , Research) and Raytheon Inc (RTN.N: Quote, Profile , Research) to increase its fleet to 142 by 2012. The company has also taken options to buy another 18 A320s.
