GSM 737 Boston-Glasgow?

Picked up relatives from Glasgow International Airport and the story of their return flight was surprising so I wanted to post to hear if such a situation could be or happens regularly??....

1) GSM flying a 737 across the Atlantic?
My rels are adamant it was a 737 and that it had to fly a deviated route according to the capital because "They couldn't fly to far away from a safe airport" !!?? This was a Boston - Glasgow flight?

2) That there was a 'sheduled' stop at Knock airport in Ireland as when they did a passenger roster they where one pax down. They unloaded all the bags from the hold onto the ramp and got all the pax to stand beside their bags, then the crew realised that they had miss-counted and all the pax where accounted for and off they went again?

This is third hand so sorry if both the above are comon practice, but sounded bizarre to me?

Yes, they operate to Boston with a 737 aircraft. Not for long though. Service ends for the summer in a week or so, and I've heard they aren't returning next year.

737-700 has operated all summer , normally with full ETOPS and no stranger than using a 757. This service has lost its ETOPS qualification for now ( due to CAA enforcement due to crewing irregularities), hence the deviated course.
Passenger numbers have been variable but by no means impressive even with the stop at NOC on certain days.

As BY738 stated, Globespan have lost their ETOPS license at the moment, so have to fly a longer route over the Atlantic.
