Yes Wings. Please do.
Maybe we should nickname the A330 to "Wings"?

Press release..... they don't know even what aircraft is.

Anyway, even for A380 in real prices you don't pay that much

This is wonderful news, and rather un expected. I'm starting to wonder if this order might have something to do with the 787 delays ?

The press-release was sent out by CZ themself early morning here,
but the price they are referring to is list price and not agreed price.

Anyway, very good news CZ and Airbus.

Does anyone know if 2010 is the first possible delivery for new A330s contracts?

The backlog stood at 329 accross the 3 variants of the plane at the end of September which, if we assume all of the orders are going to be delivered asap gives 47 months production (at the current rate) - stretching out to late 2011 but some planes will be delivered later than that so I'd gues that soem early slots are still available. Note this doesn't take into account the proposed bump in rate to 9 or 10 a month.

Another beautiful win for the A330 (by far my fav Airbii product), Congratulations Airbus and CZ of course. The A330 is really the hottest product in town these days, and I am happy it will bring more confy flying to us around the world... I wonder if the same boom will begin with the 777 once the A350 EIS comes closer and closer?

WINGS, you (and us other A330 lovers) will have a year to talk about...  cloudnine

I've not been much of an Airbus advocate but I have to admit that lately I will go a little further out of my way to fly an Airbus rather than a Boeing. And I have always enjoyed CZ; I always fly with them when I am flying Chinese domestic.
And CAN is a nice airport; a bit like DEN.

If this is true it's CZ's third order for A330s. Assuming they stick with RR, that will take the number of A330s in China to 71 with four airlines - and every last one with RR Trents. Add in 32 with Cathay and 16 with Dragonair and that's 119 - all with RR. For what it's worth, that's double the number of 787s ordered by China to date.  stirthepot

CI paid close to list price for their A333 (and their 744Fs)
http://www.china-airlines.com/en/about/95ap.pdf
page 25 b, c, they paid 173 mil for their A333 and 214 for a 744F.

What a great year for the 330 this has been!! Congratulations to Airbus and CZ... I bet that WINGS is having one of the greatest weeks, 380 first commercial flight, bunch of new orders....  bigthumbsup

It makes you wonder if the backlog on the 330 is long enough, it will definitely pass thru 350 EIS... what would happen then? will the airlines that have orders would switch? or maybe they will keep receiving their 330´s instead of waiting a long time for their 350´s or even 787´s.

My point is that somehow I believe that this 330 sales boom is driven by the lack of early slots on the 787 and 350 later-on EIS don´t you think?
