It's good to see a bit of an expansion. UA likes expanding the 70 seat RJ fleet. It seems to work well. Markets are getting service that otherwise might not have adequate service. I'm really glad that the CR7s aren't being used to increase frequency, but are being used to sustain and increase service. YVR-LAX or similary on a CR7 isn't bad, although UA is competiting with AS who operates 737s and AC's combination of A319s and E90s.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Yes they still do, these are frequency increases.

United currently flies BWI-LAX. They used to offer 2 roundtrips a day but recently cut it down to 1 after WN dropped their competing BWI-LAX n/s service. Sounds like UA is going back to their 2 daily.

Loads seem pretty healthy, at least in economy, the several times I've taken the flight but I wonder about yields since First usually has seats available. Equipment seems to fluctuate b/t 757s and 320s. I guess they wouldn't be adding more service if they weren't making money, though.

According to my future mother-in-law, people in DSM have known about the new flight for almost a month. Don't know why they waited to long to announce it though. Personally, I'd much prefer it to be on a Shuttle America E170, but I am going to guess that Sky West has the exclusive UAX contract at LAX.

As for the fares, they want $400 for a round-trip in April and dates. Some of the connecting flights are about $100 less.

That will mean there will be 132 seats each way. If they can't fill both of them completely, the should just replace both CRJ's with an A319 with 120 seats. Or maybe if they don't have that problem and they still need more seats, the should replace both with an A320. Having UA mainline instead of CRJ's makes an airport look good in my opinion. I am also glad to see that OKC-IAD is doing well. All that is next is OKC-SFO. Couldn't that be done an a CRJ-200?

Gross.

Even if it could I honestly hope United would at LEAST put a CR7 on this route.

LAX-AUS (CR7) - once daily

I didn't see this thread when I posted about this route earlier today. This will be nice for us UA frequent flyers in Austin, but the times could be better. I guess they are banking on mostly O/D traffic and connecting UA traffic going to SFO. UA has a nice littel presence here in Austin!

LAX PDX with four daily flights will be Sky West operated as well starting on 08Jan08. Also, one daily early morning flight to SEA will be starting on 08Feb08 all service will be operated on CR7 aircraft.

I'm not sure about that, but UA has release OO from Exclusive flying for UAX. I believe they can operate/handles other carriers from LAX too now..
