About 2:30 into it...in the background behind the emergency vehicles.

How is it that a bird strike is all cool, but if a human strike occurs, its a bad thing?

"Because its a bird" is not a reasonable excuse to celebrate death, IMO.

Wow.... Great job by the flight crew. Just when I was going to start a thread about pilots being overpaid. LOL! JUST KIDDING! Situations like that would make me happy to see pilots and flight attendants getting paid well for their jobs. Great video, thanks for sharing.

I hate to add what some would think as a negative remark but the flight crew were just doing what they are trained and paid to do, nothing more. It's obvious that this training paid off but to think that it takes a super-human amount of skill to cope with an engine failure after V1 is just crazy. This is why flying, for the most part, is the safest form of transportation in the world. Pilot training along with very well designed aircraft and engines, allow things like this bird ingestion to happen without incident.

Cheers,

Just because you like birds is not a reasonable excuse to equate a human life with one of a bird. I'm not sayin anyone should glory in gore of any kind involving a living creature, but trying to equate animals with humans is just as disgusting.

that is a legitimate point. You could argue that a human life is the same as a animal life thus maiking this vid a horiffic thing to watch....

Wery interesting. One question comes to mind: Is tha engine now scrapped? Or does it simply need to be repaired? Amazing something as small as a bird could do that much damage...what would the price tag on an engine like that be? $500k or more?

Add another zero. Engines are the most expensive part of the plane.

That is correct. The bird did not have the right of way - failure to stop for approaching larger bird. Failure to use caution when approaching intersection. Failure to use caution in known high traffic areas. The BIRD loses. RIP

What's "people like me"? This is the internet, there is no tone or body language; unless you're assuming based on your experiences which I obviously will not know, I did not give you enough information to decide what kind of "people" I am.  Smile

I don't like like birds, but you missed my point.

Like I said, you missed my point (which was odd as I typed it in plain sight)

Here's a conundrum: Everyday in the world a kid and a pet is lost, yet finding/saving our pets are just as important as our children, why?

Very, last I heard, and this was a while ago, is that an engine for a 747 was about 7 million and 15 million for an A380

Hi all.

Nighthawk, the only answer I can come up with is this. In the UK, (as I'm sure you know), if you were seen with a gorgeous female your mates would ask who was that 'bird' you were with last night. Secondly, seeing as she is hitting a ball with her racket that can only lead to one conclusion.

It's a bird strike.

I'm now off to adjust my logic level. worried
