I have here an article taken from yahoo.fr.
It is relating AOM's recurent delays and flight cancellation due to technical problems on the DC-10's engines most of the time.
The DAC Nord, Direction de l'aviation civile Nord, a branch of the DGAC has sent a letter to AOM on August 11 telling them that they are very unhappy about AOM's safety and made a list of all the flight delays and cancellation due to technical problems. They also mention that all the diverse analysis show important fault in functioning within the airline when exploitation safety is concern !
The DAC Nord also state that such events can cause the change of the airline flying certificate and even its withdrawal causing the grounding of the airline !
When asked, the head office of the DGAC confirmed the letter and also states that such a letter is a very rare case. A technical meeting was done between AOM and the DAC Nord and the airline's planes weren't grounded as the airline promised to check its engine "more often".
AOM owns 11 DC-10 according to the press release with the eldest being from 1975.
AOM acknowledged that its fleet was getting very old.
The url is the following and the article is in french as you can see.
