Republic - How Are They Doing With F9

Sun Oct 28, 2007 11:52 pm

Just wondering if anyone had any idea as to how the service and reliability of Republic was with Frontier?

I was wondering the same thing recently, so I checked with a friend and found out they are actually doing pretty well. Most recent data shows that on time is around 86% and controllable completion is 99.7%. Pretty good numbers.

I'd say those are very good numbers! Any thoughts on service? What is being offered? Are they allowed to do buy on board? Is this service actually seemless unlike every other express carrier?

We do not offer buy on board as neither does F9. We are the equvalent to what you get on mainline F9. As a matter of fact I just finished a 2 day with a SJD. Now I have to go back and work the US side.

No doubt you want to fly Frontier -- so, F9 doesn't do BOB? I thought they did -- so do you do everything that F9 does? Does the same go for Horizon?

We do the same service as mainline does. We just don't have the LiveTV. But that maybe coming shortly as we are dong some fairly long flights like MCI-CUN and DEN-CUN and DEN-SJD. Don't know if Horizon does the same.

In essence, Republic is not a contract regional carrier. They're simply just an outsourcing attempt by Frontier... so, one would hope you'd get similar service.

I pick up F9 trips here and there, and the agents are telling me that aren't enjoying working republic flights, saying there have been some issues right from the get go (expected), issues that remind them of the days pre-horizon (remember who that was?)

I will admit I think Republic's airplane is awesome, but face it, Republic is Chautauqua is 70 seaters!  Wink

There were a few "issues", as you call them, at the start as the two got to know each other, but most were resolved quite a while ago.

Frontier's CEO Menke talked about this on the conference call last week. There has been a very positive reaction to the Republic service and, especially, to the E170.

Of course there has been, everyone loves the 170. In-fact I'm rather bitter that it wasn't available when Horizon was shopping for the F28 replacement...and that was a real airplane btw!  Wink

It'll be interesting to see the 170s in Boise beginning 11/15. They'll have 1 170 and 2 CR7 flights from then. Never been on a 170, but have been on a B6 190. Can't imagine much difference other than pax count.

Good article and interview about Republic in the latest issue (Dec-2007) of Airways Magazine.

Does anyone know if they are still flying with the first class seats?

I rode on E-170 ship 705 DEN-SDF last week and it was an all coach set up.

It's amazing that how fast Republic has grown -- under Bryan Bedfords watch this airline family has totally taken advantage of regionals being status quo. Props to him and his team.

Republic service feels more like mainline f9. Horizon was not bad at all but the crj 700 can't compete with the e170 in comfort. Any chance we can get direct tv service? Sure would like to use my ascent status.

There has been rumour that the service is coming. As we and F9 are owned by Wexford holdings. I really enjoy working the F9 ops. Much better than the US product. Also all airplanes in a 76 seat configuration. Total of 17 planes are going to F9 as of now.

I flew on a few US E170s flown by Republic Airways. I really didn't mind them at all. Then again, I really can't compare them to F9's product, considering I haven't even flown on F9 nor have I even been to DEN for that matter...

If you've flown on the US E170 then you know what it's like on F9. It would be nice if they could put DirecTV on F9's E170's.

I saw the 6th E170 at DIA tonight. It looks nice. It has the tail from Frontier's old 737 N319FL. I see pics of the first 5 E170's on here, but nothing yet for number 6. Here's the tail from N319FL -

It certainly would be nice if they did that! That would certainly make their E70 product a heck of a lot more attractive...

I'm not sure what you mean by that - Frontier is not owned by Wexford Holdings.

Frontier is a publicly traded company, and there no blocks of shares that would constitute "ownership" held by any single entity.

Frontier has a very happy history with Wexford, though. After the Westpac debacle, Wexford made a emergency loan to Frontier of $5 million to keep the airline flying. The loan was repaid in full in a short space of time.
