Midwest Shareholders Approve Sale To TPG/NW

Tue Oct 30, 2007 3:57 pm

Over the wire from AP:
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/071030/midwest_sale.html

No company PR as of yet, or details on any unofficial tally, but the shareholder approval should come as no shock. The deal will remain open until government approval is received.

Now we just need the DOJ to approve the sale.

Is Midwest incapable of staying an independent carrier? The article says they will stay under their name & offer same onboard service but how long will things stay the same? Can or will Midwest be merged into NW or will they still operate respectively? What is to happen to Skyway now?

Well since the DOJ will only approve this deal if NWA stays out of YX operational control, it will still be Midwest as it is now, whether that is good or bad. Skyway will be here unless we get blown away by the SkyWest CRJ rookies that will not taxi out with more than one engine running.

I take it you are Skyway. Awesome, former Skyway ramper here too. Good luck with staying on, forget those Skywest folks. Skyway is the best way to fly, other than Comair lol.

Please explain the pilot conflict between Skyway and SkyWest for those of us not involved.

Skyway pilots would be happy with any other carrier because the others would have been a unionized airline. That was the main grippe right off the bat with the skyway pilots.

MEH has not existed for the last few years. It went out with the new name change to just Midwest. The current parent company is Midwest Air Group.

Can NW do that? And why would YX want to trade their brand new 717s for a bunch of 40 year old DC-9s? I assume that once the E Jets start coming online, that the DC-9s will be headed for their well deserved retirement (Soda cans anyone?)
Yes, I'd like to see airbus go under so Boeing can have their customers!

Yeah, stop talking out your  butthead  . That would make absolutely no sense, to revert fuel efficiencies. And the sad thing would be that the customers would now hate to fly Midwest because they have "old rust buckets". Even though they didn't notice before.

I think  airplane   alert   banghead   banghead   blockhead   boxedin  is more fitting. That is like saying, that Midwest will be getting all of NWA's 747-200s to run service to europe.

This is false because neither side can comment on plans until the deal is final. A better rumor would be that NW is going to sell Midwest their older Airbus.

Midwest Air Group. Changed when they changed the name from MIdwest Express. They just never changed the stock symbol from MEH. After TPG takes over it will be Midwest Air Partners. But of course no stock symbol.

?? I'm using MEH to mean the parent company, just like I use AAI when I want to talk about the parent company and not the carrier. Does that make more sense?

Sounds like someone either hates Midwest for turning down AirTran's merger proposal or hates NWA in general. Quite frankly as an MEH Shareholder I think the Midwest BOD did a terrific job in getting the best deal for my shares. Did I want Midwest to sell? No way! AirTran put MEH stock in play and now we all have to live with the outcome. Time to move on... I did.
