CO's Sexy Oct. 07 Results...

Fri Nov 02, 2007 7:41 am

I don't think there's a thread yet. Traffic was up year over year, as was capacity, but since traffic was up slightly more, Load Factors are up a tick. Even though regional flying was cut 4%, overall capacity was up 5.7%. As customers prefer to fly mainline jets, that's always nice to see.

RASM was up 6-7%, with mainline RASM up 7-8%. That's a good sign.

PS - the results are "sexy" purely as an experiment. I've noticed that threads with the worlds sex, virgin, thai and a couple other phrases get way more views than other threads. My guess is it's due to web search engines and horny people all over the world. so want to test that theory...  Wink

But I don't know if that's the case, as the press release doesn't mention which groups of passengers had the most growth.

We can assume, however, that if there were sexy Thai virgins on CO flights, there are now statistically 6% more of them and they are paying 7% more per available seat mile. So if you can confirm that they do fly CO, I guess we can change the title...  Wink

And that in fact, these sexy Thai virgins will bring more revenue onto CO flights, though costs might increase due to diversions involving the mile high club.

I'm flying CO for the two upcoming holidays, and the prices are absolutely higher than last year. Ticket prices have been higher on CO all year, especially ex-LAX, which is my home market.

Well CO doesn't mention CASM in the release (or maybe I missed it), but why would you assume that these chaste women would be deflowered on board? That makes little sense at all.

That said, the views of this page are 5-10x the views of some of the pages with similar number of replies...

I am willing to go and query the sexy Thai virgins. What was that song about one night in Bangkok?

To get back to the subject, it's interesting to see CO keep pushing up domestic capacity, which is counter to what the other majors are doing. Year-to-date CO is up over 5%, while the others are more of less flat.

They must be making huge inroads among sexy domestic virgins.

Well, my theory isn't holding, as while there are a lot of hits for 7 replies, there are a lot of hits on some other, non-sexy threads, too.

No doubt. And without really adding new domestic routes. I think it's just slowly upsizing routes as 737s arrive and ERJs are shunted off (as well as some 735s going away).

Yes, it simply confirms that most of us on A.net are sexless, nerds who get more excited about a phallic airplane design than a pretty woman...or man...or lesbian...or gay man...or transexual.....or (did I cover all bases?)
Airliners.net has many forums. It has spell check and search functions. Use them before posting!

There's no doubt there.

I was more working under the hypothesis that internet search engines would point people to a thread about aviation if it had sex in it.

I doubt Demand Media minds either way. More eyeballs on a page means more people seeing the advertisement.

When I book the annual Thanksgiving flights to EWR around the third or fourth week of October, there are usually more seats open than there were when I looked recently. I guess this proves that I wasn't crazy after all...

Based on CO's recent results, the strength is coming from the int'l markets. Int'l flights are doing very well for all carriers.

There have been a number of fare increases (I believe 7 since Labor Day alone) but jet fuel is absolutely headed straight up.

CO's results are very good but it remains to be seen how fast costs are increasing. No one releases cost data in advance (other than the occassional guidance to investors).
