Conviasa A342 Flying For Iran Air

Fri Nov 02, 2007 10:48 pm

I just noticed an upload of the Conviasa A340-200 flying for Iran Air. Is this a lease, sub-lease, charter, sale? I was wondering if this rare beauty would get painted into Iran Air's colours.

Cheers

A340-211 YV1004 (MSN 031) was indeed seen at Teheran from July to September 2007. Although reported as wet-leased to Iran Air, she never wore on her Conviasa livery any marking indicating it.

As far as I know this aircraft leaves CCS on tuesdays and comes back on saturdays, performing several legs from and to THR to unknown places. Not sure if it is for Iran Air, though, as the airport's board says that the flight to THR and DAM is being performed by Conviasa.

I've tried to spot it 'moving' several times but everytime I go down to the airport, she's either flying or parked.

I do think this is one of the best looking A340s in the market, unfortunately xD

Cheers

Last reported , has been ferried to MAD.
Seems as the lease is finished.
Never wore any IR markings.

The plane has been ferried from THR back to CCS via MAD. Now YV1004 must be stored once more at CCS, right?

It was seen several times in CCS, but never in the international terminal, but in Conviasa hangars area or at Ramp 4 (Presidential) area. It was intended for flights to MAD in an UX Codeshare, although it was lately used for CCS - ORY - DAM - THR route. Its current status is unknown to me.

On Saturday 13 of October I arrived at Caracas at 1-55pm from Bogota. A Conviasa 340-200 was parked at gate 15 supposed to fly to THR as Iran Air . The flight leaves Saturdays at 3-30pm returning to Caracas Tuesdays at 3-15pm. I have checked the OAG flight planner for November and the flight appears to be a regular one.

Nice looking plane.

CCS-ORY-DAM-THR is no more. Was when 747SP-86 flew the route.

I have been said by IR staff , the A340 can fly CCS-DAM at full load without a stop.

However do not know if the service has begunn.

Please be very careful, the Venezuelans in this forum take everything very seriously...  Cool

That's suspicious really. Do mr. Dangerous' (Chavez speak for president Bush) spies not know?

Does anybody know what crew was flying this A340? Venezuelan or Iranian pilots?

The airplane was being operated by Venezuelan crew. Conviasa even adverted the positions in the local newspapers looking for A340 and ATR crews about a year ago or so.

Good for them. Hopefully they're not out of a job now if the lease is actually finished.

I saw the V0 flight listed on IKA deprature list on Saturday 02 Nov with DAM and CCS as the destinations. It looks like the IKA-DAM-CCS will be operated by V0 with IR code-sharing. The Winter 07-08 IR timetable no longer lists the flight on OR metal.

Oh c'mon man, that's sarcasm. You know here in A.net most of venezuelans do not like Chavez. But, this is not a political forum.

On a side note, the CCS airport page showed yesterday that V0 flight to DAM was cancelled. No PAX? A question to answer.

Best regards from Venezuela,

Alberto

Ups, I forgot you were from Nepal ¬¬

This aircraft is being used on the government's best interests, not giving a damn about the millions of dollars they've been wasting having that bird parked at the presidential terminal. This is something insane that only some "sarcastic" people could possibly understand.

The crew MUST always be from the same airline that the aircraft belongs to. At least the legal minimum. So it needs to be V0 crew. IR may put some additional cabin crew on it.

And: this is NO lease ! So it can't end as speculated here. The aircraft has been purchased "cash" for an amout around 30 million USD.

Does the IR 747SP still operate the route ?

Similar as in the case of VIASA's first 747 (leased to KLM, and christened the "Orinoco"). The crew was a mixture of Venezuelans and Dutch.  thumbsup

I thought that this was merely a rumour, and what they've purchased was a 767-300 (ex-UA) and registered as YV1006. The airplane is currently for sale and possibly will join S3 fleet in the future.

They purchased both.

No, worldwirde. A Lufthansa crew can not fly an Air France aircraft, both cabin and cockpit. This is the information I have.
