Crew Rest On The A380

Sun Nov 04, 2007 8:12 pm

On SQ A380 will pilots get to rest in one of the first class suites or is there a specific area ie crew rest that they will use. Also where is the crew rest on the A380?

The pilots have a crew rest area within the cockpit itself, and the cabin crew have a rest area at the back of the aircraft.

Definately won't be having staff use a $6,000.00 suite for a crew rest area. Those are for customers to not have sex in. ha

That's a rather conservative estimate I'm afraid.

So does anyone have any pics of either rest areas? Or maybe even diagrams or floorplans that include them?

Sorry I was quoting a little high. SYD-SIN for a week from today one way in A380 Suites is $4,768.72USD. My $6,000.00 estimate was too high. Sorry about that.  Smile

That isn't that bad. There are a lot of F tickets that cost way more.

I actually thought that was a little high, but I didn't realize you were only quoting one way.

Does anyone have a link to the A380 crew rest options? I became so interested in the A350 and 787 crew rest options that I've forgotten the arrangements available on the A380. I assume a cargo rest module is an option a la A340. Actually, can they just use the A340 crew rest modules?

I am not sure but if you can find a cutaway of the aircraft like those sometimes seen in Flight International publications, it might shed some light as to where any space was allocated for crew rest areas. With so much space, I am sure there are a few options for customers to choose from

No, no all the crew rests are on the main decks, not below.

The SQ crew rests are inside the cockpit and at the aft of the upstairs. You can see them on their floor maps.

Ahhh... You gave me the right keywords. After searching, this is the best floormap I found on the web:

This seatmap suggests otherwise. The cabin crew rest appears to be located in the belly, right between the main landing gear bays, with access near door 3 of the main deck.

First I thought that this must be a mistake, but I went to the SQ site and there clearly is a staircase down, which does suggest a crew rest.

Notice how seatexpert incorrectly spells it "Airbus Industries". Ah well. Guess it's a small slip: http://www.seatexpert.com/_SQ_A380.html

Hopefully I will be able to clarify some stuff, because I took a photo when the Captain came over

This was just after the main economy class section I think, on the K side where the emergency exits were located

I asked the IFS and he also said that right next to the cockpit, there was also some crew compartments.

If you want to make a copy of the seatmap for yourself, It requires a bit of Screen Printing, and Copying and Pasting. But I made a copy of the SeatExpert one for my personal research. Hopefully by the time I fly on the SQ 380, I'll be able to walk up and down with my eyes closed  Smile
