When Will WN Change Its Logo?

Sun Nov 11, 2007 1:00 pm

When will WN change its logo to that of a plane with winglets? A couple of years ago they changed the color from the gold to canyon blue.

Make that WN. I doubt Air Namibia, aka SW, paints their aircraft in canyon blue.  Wink

Such a small difference, I wouldn't hold my breath. Not the same to a totally different colour scheme.

They really don't have the expendable cashflow like DL or US did to keep rebranding and repainting.

An airline doesn't have to have expendable cashflow to repaint their aircraft. Aircraft are repainted at certain intervals regardless. In fact, transitioning to a new paint scheme can reduce overall costs if the new paint scheme is less complex/less costly.

Dude, you do know this is Southwest we are talking about, dont you? Their market cap is worth more than all the majors combined! They make more money than the majors too, and have a larger fleet of narrowbodies. If anyone in the US has surplus cash to 'waste' on rebranding then its WN.

How many people would notice the winglets? Not all a/c have them either, so its not misleading anyone. Rebrandings usually signify a change or a PR stunt to emphasise change/new products, etc. WN has the model nailed, and improces it bit by bit, an all singing all dancing rebrand is not what WN tend to do, They are smart enough to keep reshaping their product bit by bit.

Brian.

I dont think they need to. It would cost more to rebrand every image again.

Agree. They only changed the colors in what, '01? 6 years isn't sufficient time to rebrand it. They really don't have the expendable cashflow like DL or US did to keep rebranding and repainting.
Something awful.

History would seem to suggest DL and US didn't have the expendable cash flow either.
I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

Why should they change their logo? The current logo has been working for them for many years. Why fix something which doesn't need to be fixed.

History, yes...their actions, not so much!
