Very good fare!! I was thinking it would be good for a mileage run but you only get 6,000 miles due to the W class booking code.

Still nice fare if you want to take a mini vacation.

Given that at least EUR200.00 of that will be German taxes, that's practically giving it away !

Flights between Europe and GRU are very ligtly loaded this week. KLM's AMS GRU is currently underway with just 152 passengers, more than 20 of whom are non-revenue, leaving less than 130 fare paying passengers in the 330-seat B772ER. I would imagine that the situation at LH is very similar. Indeed, most GRU flights are wide open, with particularly the daylight MUC GRU flight very lightly loaded.

Is this a yearly re-occurring event? Or just a bad week?

That sounds abnormally low for this flight. I hope it's just a seasonal low! Otherwise I wonder how KLM's going to fill up a 77W on this route from March 08.
Please remain seated!

As i expect, the excessive capacity added for this summer seems to be hurting all airlines.
In Brazil all airlines are now with very nice fares even for the high season (IB, TP, LH, AF, BA, AZ, JJ, RG) and also paying to agents a very nice commission.
We got more 2x weekly from IB, LH upgraded MUC-GRU to A346 from A343, created an exclusive EZE-FRA which means GRU-FRA is now 100% for Brazil, JJ will begin GRU-FRA and GRU-MAD, CA will increase it's 2x weekly with an additional seasonal weekly frequency, TP increase 3 flights on GRU-LIS, RG is back with GRU-LHR and GRU-CDG and will begin shortly GRU-MAD as well as resume GIG-FRA.

A question, how is performing the AF daylight to GIG ? I tried to fly last sunday on GIG-CDG-LHR but there are no C seats available one week before. Is it killing the yields of the very profitable AF442/443 ?

they are definately not here at LH. we tend to heavily overbook this particular flight. Monday I handled it at the gate and it was overbooked by 27! The same applies to the EZE run. As you know they splitted the old flight into two new flights and both flights are really full everyday.

anyway 334 EUR is really hard to compete with.

Todays' daylight flight ex MUC had only 81 pax on board. I would call that a light load for a A340-600.
FRA flights seem to be filled better at the moment.
flown: F50,F70,CR1,CR2,CR9,E75,143,AR8,AR1,733,735,736,73G,738,753,744,77W,788,319,320,321,333,AB6.

In my view this is just a one-off event. GRU remains a highly profitable market for LH or KLM. In fact, it is confirmed that KLM will inaugurate its B77W flying AMS-GRU, which again shows the route is very profitable. In my opinion, KL AMS-GRU sometimes shows some irregularities, with some days having light loads, but other days fully booked (actually over-booked), and more than compensating.

The same goes for LH, which has healthy operations in GRU. In 2007 alone LH-LX increase capacity in GRU several times, wich is testament of its profitable operations and priority for GRU.

I heard that they also considering to put the A380 on this route... for sure not the first LH-route with A380, but one of the 'firsts'.

I'm thinking about if TAM could chance something on that particular route with their entry in Dec.?!?

Folks,

Just adding to the discussion: as far as I've seen, it's the flights from GRU to Europe that are bad, not the other way around. Sure, there were some flights with light loads but the fact remains that we've seen quite a few deboardings in Europe this week. The light loads ex Europe (and GRU to some extent) are expected and forseen in the seasonality.

The main problem for this is the very poor performance from the point of sale Brazil. According to BSP figures, october was a terrible month sales-wise and it's to be expected that carriers will not be able to fill all the flights. Furthermore, pretty much all european carriers plus RG and JJ have recently launched promotional fares to Europe, consequently yields are also expected to drop considerably.

The light loads ex Europe (and GRU to some extent) are expected and forseen in the seasonality. What added to the problem was simply the fact that we've seen a dramatic increase in SKO and frequencies between GRU and Europe. If you count the new flights which RG (GRU-MAD) and JJ (GRU-FRA and GRU-MAD) will launch before 31-Dec, there's almost a 40% increase in SKO when comparing the current winter timetable to the previous summer timetable and that's a HUGE increase. Once again, SKO's between SAO and Europe grew at a higher rate than the rest of Brazil, attesting to the fact that the yields in SAO are still considerably superior to those to be found elsewhere.

Cheers,

Marcelo

I have the same info, and the A380 is scheduled to come to GRU for a "test drive"...
