Good to see! B6 really loves the DR, and is trying a few cool routes (MCO-SDQ, BOS-STI). Hopefully it'll work well for them!

Im thinking B6 is trying to do MCO what NK did to FLL. FLL has alot more O&D, but B6 will have better feed and less delays. do/will these flights arrive in the INTL wing (DL/FL/VS airside), or existing B6 gates at MCO?

Agreed. B6 may also have some connecting options with their new point-to-point routes to the northeast (i.e. BTV, PWM). That may help to feed these routes alongside the O & D. As for arrivals, I don't know about that one, but one thing to throw out there is that even if they do arrive at Airside 4 for customs and immigration, it's possible to transit between Airside 4 and Airside 2 without leaving security, so connections would still be possible.
Good goes around!

They aren't just trying to do this at MCO. They are trying to do it at FLL too. FLL-PSE launched; FLL-STI is coming; FLL-BOG was applied for. And Spirit provides better domestic feed at FLL than B6 at MCO, at least in terms of geographic variety.

Geographic variety doesn mean as much when refering to the Northeeast-Carribean market. A place like PWM probably genberates alot more carribean trips per capita than SEA or SFO (maybe even more outright)

B6 from MCO = BUF ROC SYR BTV SWF HPN EWR LGA JFK BOS PWM IAD

NK from FLL = LGA ACY MYR DTW ORD LAS LAX MCO TPA ATL DCA

Which set of cities generates more carribean runs? Id go with the first one. FLL has the local O&D advantage however

Per capita, sure. Total? No. Spirit gets 30-40 connecting pax a day from LAX to the Caribbean, and at least 20-25 a day from Vegas. I doubt jetBlue will even get five daily passengers connecting from Portland to the Caribbean in MCO, especially as SDQ is a local market with little to no tourist traffic. These routes are meant for the local market in the first place.

Nice addition and i think the E190 is the perfect plane for the route. Does anyone know how the BOS-STI holiday shuttle is doing ticket sale wise?

it's getting cold in NYC this time of year....hope we get the 190s problems worked out because it's been questionable at best so far this "cold season" again

Have their been many problems with them? like what? My 190 flight from CMH-JFK was swapped out for a A320 earlier this week.

I didn't mind much, I got a row to mysel to stretch out

That statement i dont argue, my point was if PWM had the same connecting options as NK in FLL that it could very well be near that of some of the west coast cities. Id venture to estimate 15-20 daily in the off peak and 30-40 during the peak seasons. Again, assuming PWM would have low-fare options to all of those cities available via FLL in NK.

Not if you want all of the baggage to accompany its passengers.
The 190 can handle around 140 average-sized bags if loaded optimally.
The JFK-SDQ route regularly sees about half of its baggage over the 50 pound mark and large in size, not to mention oversized/heavy items to be gate checked (and I'm not talking about assisting devices like strollers, wheelchairs, scooters, etc). B6 had weight & balance problems the first time it flew the JFK-SDQ route, and was a major factor in the route being cut. While the overweight issues have subsided for the most part since service resumed, a full flight can see 260+ bags. While it's 50 less pax on a 190, figure around 2 bags per person, more or less seeing about 150-175 bags plus gate checks. It's good to test the waters with the 190 in the event the flight doesn't fill at first, but if it's a solid seller and fills up, it would need the 320, unless JB wants to pay to ship the left over bags.

I know there have been some mechanical issues, but I haven't noticed a significant increase, but the winter will probably bring some. I was wondering too why CMH had the 320 this week. I worked the outbound (Monday it was, I believe), and that had to be a first. It wasn't a late a/c swap, so I'm not sure why the a/c was sent there.

I guess I just missed you. I was on CMH-JFK, 11AM flight. Is that one of the older 320's that they keep in reserve, it seemed a little more worn on the interirior than most, but still always good condition and great service.

Bags may be a problem but from what i understand the SDQ-NYC market is larger than SDQ-MCO market which is why i stated the E190 would be a better aircraft because there is less demand but you never know

Generally the A320's are swapped due to shortages in the 190 fleet...a swap in itse;lf is rare and usually signifies a bad MX day

every bag to SDQ is a set weight at 60lbs per bag. I highly doubt they will be carrying all the bags if the 190 goes out full.
