Old TVC Terminal Building Being Torn Down

Tue Nov 20, 2007 9:07 pm

It has been a while since I've been to TVC. A bunch of us got together back in 2001 at the site for a small gathering. As a kid I had taken a flight from TVC to YIP on a Capitol Airlines Viscount. That was in 1957. Much has changed since then. The terminal that is being demolished at this time of course has been replaced a few years ago with an all new terminal. The story of this demolition hit the paper today from:

Sad to see it go. I remember plenty of NC CV-580's and a few DC-9's parked at that terminal. I am sure a lot of people have memories of that terminal.

The real reason it was torn down is because the building costs approximately $200,000.00 per year to keep up (and that is straight from the hors... I mean Steve Cassens mouth)

Cassens said the old terminal couldn't be reused because it sits inside the runway safety area, along with the airport control tower.

So its ok to park aircraft in the same area, even closer to the runways? lol.
