LOT To Order Additional 12 ERJ-175

Fri Nov 23, 2007 12:07 pm

Two days ago biggest polish newspaper wrote an article that LOT has a plan to buy more (12) planes from Brazilian manufacturer Embraer. Here is link (sorry just polish language): http://www.rp.pl/artykul/70669.html
New planes will replace all fleet of EMB-145s.

Would be great news for LOT, is the order already cfmd?
I have experienced the LO E-75 once from AMS to WAW, which you can read my Trip Report :
Flying The Jungle-Jet To WAW (pics) (by DALCE May 1 2007 in Trip Reports)

I really loved the comfort offered on this machine!
Would it be just E-75's or E-70's aswell?

So who are going to pick up the E145s? SAS? LOT seem determined to be Embraer´s biggest customer in europe for a long time.

Good news from LOT. Its to bad that they are getting rid of all the 145s though, the LOT livery looks pretty cool on that plane.
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

What a smart move from LOT.... if only MA management can learn from them  Yeah sure

Congrats to both LOT and Embraer!

Interesting. Upgauging! Anyone else think $90/bbl oil is having an impact on the 50 seat market?

So where are the E145's going? Or are they becoming piece parts?

Good news for both Embaer and LOT.

I doubt that the E145s will be scrapped.

Me too, but there is a world wide surplus of 50 seaters. Some will find greater value as parts (a la some of the A320's). I don't look for what I want when determining trends. I look for what the trends are. Right now that trend is to upgauge the regional flying. Its a natural side effect of expensive oil.

And a reason to buy GTF's.  Wink

I don't think the 145's are a good replacement for the Q400's.

Who knows though.

Shame to see the 145's going though...they looked great in LOT's scheme.

But the E-jets are a good choice. I've been on a United Express 170...I love those jets.

What are LOT's plans for the B767-200ER. This must be expensive to operate with oil so costly.

Run them till the 787s enter service. Or send them back to the lessors and run on the 763ER's until the 787 enters service. I doubt they're anymore expensive to operate than other contemporary widebodies, and is no more affected by the cost of oil than other aircraft.

True, but the 762 on LOT has 41 fewer seats than the 763, so the cost per seat is much higher. From what I can see they use the 762 to YYZ and JFK primarily. Do they have 763s to serve these routes with 763s instead and retire the 762s? Even return them early to lessors?

Well, if the cost became prohibitive, then they'd get rid of them faster. LOT has been acquiring a few second hand 763s lately. I'm not 100% certain what their plans are now that the 787 will be at least 6 months behind schedule. Otherwise, the 762s will remain on the timetable set by LOT's management.

Awesome for LOT. What will the ac replace...slowly will the e175s replace the 735? Wouldnt it make sense for LOT to look at the e190 adn 195 to replace their larger fleet of 737s. I love those 737s tho.

This is the second mention on these boards I've seen about LOT getting rid of the 145s. Last time I heard I asked for confirmation, but never got a response from the user who stated it. Rumors run rampant in Polish aviation...the first mention said the Polish Air Force would take on some 145s converted to Legacys to replace that Yak 40s. I don't know if a conversion is even offered at the moment.
