KLM Flying The 747 Combi To LAX Again?

Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:09 am

Went down to the In-N-Out at LAX this afternoon, and saw a KLM 747 Combi pulling up to the gates at Terminal 2. I thought KLM had switched its LAX flying to the 772? Is this a one-off switch, or is the 747 Combi back doing the LAX-AMS run?

I believe the 747-400M has been flying to LAX all along. Over the summer KLM inaugurated a 3xweekly morning flight to LAX operated by the 777-200.

OK, for some reason I had thought they had stopped 747 flying to LAX. It may be I was thinking of the 777 3x flight.

KLM has never stopped flying the B747M to LAX. The airline's daily KL601/602 AMS LAX AMS roundtrip has for years been operated by the combi aircraft.

The flight operated up to 5 times weekly over the summer peak and reduced to twice weekly in October before being stopped with the onset of the winter timetable. Flights KL603/604 were indeed operated with B772ER and it remains to be seen whether the flight will return next summer. If anything, I would expect it to come with a different schedule, as the previous setup has not been a stunning success.
