I flew US to Europe(PHL-CDG) on a 767 in April. We got typical airline food(sucked) my favorite art was the "French" food we got for the meals near France- a half-frozen crepe with runny chocolate syrup the way back, and a cold Sara Lee Croissant that tasted like wonder bread the way there. I was lucky b/c I got bulkhead both ways. We watched "The World is Not Enough" both ways, along with "The Story of Us" the way back. We also saw some Tv programming. It was kinda bad, and I hope that we can fly Air France, Lufthansa or BA next time.

They have B767-200s ex Piedmont (means old). Some of them used to be co-operated with BA (in BA c/s!) but thats no longer the case (since OneWorld). Have a nice flight.

I've done PHL-LGW several times on US, and the service isn't bad. They're running A330s on one of the PHL-LGW routes now.

Here's something to try if you are on a 767... Get a seat in rows 5-11. That's the coach cabin forward of the lav. There are only a few rows, and it tends to be more quiet.

They tend to block these seats for Y fare tickets unless you request those seats.

I flew US Airways to Europe and back twice. Once from PHL to CDG roundtrip and once from PHL to LGW. All flights were on the 767-200ER which is what they use from PIT to LGW at the moment.

Service is basic. Nothing special. Food is indifferent. Cabin crew do their basic job and remind you that they are basically there for your safety (which is true) and little else. Seats in the economy cabin on the 767 are hard and there is not much legroom. Entertainment is also standard (no PTV's on 767's) and frankly, there are other airlines that have better service to Europe than US Airways. The A330's are probably nice, but US Airways isn't known for high service standards anyway, so I'd probably go with another airline.

I think that you are being a little hard on US. I have flown on them several times (LGW-PHL, CLT and the MAN-PHL). I took Envoy Class on a couple of flights and economy when it was full. I have to say that the Y service/food/cabin was better than the US carriers that I have flown on across the Atlantic. Obviously it depends upon the crew, but they have my business if I have to use a US carrier.

The 767-200s they use are fairly fresh, and disembarking does not take 30 minutes, like it can on a very tired Northwesy 747.
