Internal Flights In Argentina

Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:06 pm

Does anybody know of good websites where I can book internal flights in Argentina.

My co-worker is taking a trip to Antartica and since he's going down there wants to fly around Argentina too.

Thanks for your help.

I too would be very interested in answers for this. My wife and I need to get from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia in February to meet up with our ship for an Antarctic Expedition as well. So far I've only been to the Aerolineas Argentina website to check rates on the flights.

I have used the Aerolineas Argentinas Web site before. Other times when travelling to BA , one of my collleauges there just takes care of it all for when we fly down to Nuequen (NQN). Generally, for most (maybe all) domestic flights you will depart from Aeroparque Jorge Newberry, the "downtown" airport close to the Rio Plato. One runway, and very interesting approaches and climbouts. Enjoy the ride!

Also, be sure to have him spend a day or 2 just enjoying BA..quite a dynamic city IMHO. ALso..be sure to enjoy the beef..I still say (even as a carne loving Californian) that it is "muy dificil " to beat the unique and enjoyable flavor of Argentine Beef..sample pleny of Argentine Malbec wines also.

The only flight reservation website I know of is Despegar.com - www.despegar.com It sometimes has some very interesting offers, way cheaper than what different airlines sell at their websites. Otherwise, I'd just stick with each airline's website, namely Aerolineas (www.aerolineas.com), LAN Argentina (www.lan.com) and the Argentine Air Force's LADE (www.lade.com.ar)

Bear in mind that there are different prices for Argentine residents and for foreigners. Prices for residents are sensibly cheaper, but don't even try to book them if you are not from here - they ask for an Argentine ID at check-in, and if you don't have one they may refuse you boarding.

Saludos,
Marambio

Actually I found when travelling domestically in Argentina this past spring that LAN did not charge me any more for a ticket AEP-IGR than it would an Argentinian citizen...AR on the other hand, is notorious for this behavior. Plus, my partner and I were very impressed with the service we received aboard LA. So, if LA/4M serves your market, it would be well worth it to give them a try...and their website allows you to book tickets from pretty much anywhere in the world.

They do now, but its about ARS 100 less than what AR charges. Did you fly LA to EZE?

Unless you fly the respective airlines to EZE and do all the travelling with them, you'll be allowed to keep your class without any fare 'imposition'. Difference, if you don't, is around ARS 700 (USD 230)

No, actually we flew DL (on SkySaver award tickets, no less!)

We actually priced AR out, and just for the fun of it, I entered on AR's website that I was an Argentinian national...AR's price for nationals was actually a few $ higher than LA/4M's price for anybody!

Check out this website:
http://www.viajeselcorteingles.com.ar

they are a Spanish travel agency that opened an office in Buenos Aires a few months ago. Not sure though if they have an english version of the website, but they do make flights easy to find.

I don't know if it's only that. I was looking for a flight AEP-MDZ for Feb2nd returning the next day and 4M charged ARS 150 less that AR/AU

Thanks for the suggestions, for my wife and I it looks like it will be between LAN and Aerolineas to get down to Ushuaia.

That's the only choice you have.  Smile Don't consider LADE unless you really like flying in old equipment (F28, F27 and if you're lucky, the 707 - but I guess that one's out of duty for a while)

That's actually no surprise, AR plays a lot with people because of its frequencies. Usually, they do get a lot of PAX because of the scheds - not counting the biz pax that ALWAYS need the last flight of the day or the very first... something that LAN doesn't have here.

You need to make sure that AR doesn't find out that you are a foreigner and makes you pay the extra money at the airport. Sometimes Travel Agencies get VERY sloppy with this.

I am going from EZE to USH on Dec 28 for an Antarctic sailing. I booked via the cruise line and got a far about $250 cheaper than anything I was finding on my own. We are booked on AR.

I booked my partner, my parents and myself from AEP to MDZ on Lan through Expedia.com this past summer. The afers were extremely reasonable, and far better than what I could get through Aerolineas Argentinas.
