RE:? About Astoria And Vistajet In Canada

If memory correct, they both attempted to compete with AC on the YYZ-YUL, and possibly a few other, routes. Like several other small carriers that tried the same thing, they failed and went out of business rather quickly.

They both flew to cities in between Windsor and Montreal, tried to compete with ACA/Air Ontario...vista was more leisure market, and i think Astoria was aiming for the business traffic. They both folded pretty quick.

Vista also had plans to serve YYC > YYZ. Don't know if they ever did, but I do know I had a ticket on them OW from YYC home to YYZ.

Ended up flying on a Royal Air 752.

Thanks for your replies.

They were indeed really short-lived airlines. Here are the details of their respective fleets.

Astoria

C-FVHC 06/1995-09/1995
C-FVHG 04/1995-09/1995

Vistajet

C-GVJB 04/1997-09/1997
C-GVJC 08/1997-09/1997

Was one of these the premium business class airline that started up and shut down very quickly? I remember hearing about that service between YYZ and YUL and thought that would be interesting to fly. I can't remember the name now.

Astoria was the premium carrier.

Here's some trivia...after Astoria went under, their 2 732's migrated to the new upstart Westjet. The Westjet livery was (and is) a minor change from Astoria.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

You gotta be kidding ! It's nowhere near a minor change. It's just a different color scheme.

Well, if you count a tail with a logo on it, a white fuselage with titles, it is similar...  sarcastic
