Any Flights Between Alaska And Northern Canada?

Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:22 pm

Is there any airline that offers scheduled air services between Alaska and cities in Yukon, NWT, Nunavut or Northern parts of British Columbia?

Thanks for any information

There are flights - summer only - between Fairbanks and Whitehorse.

Air North using - last time I looked - an HS748.

I don't recall if there are still flights between Juneau and Whitehorse? Maybe Lono or L-188 can answer.

No scheduled service at all between anywhere in Alaska and the NWT, Nunavut or norther BC. Everyone literally has to go to YVR or SEA for that. Silly ain't it.

I am not very familiar with the region, so I can't tell what pax demand is like. But distance-wise, I agree that it looks like very silly  Wink

There isn't one.

Population density is such that there really is no need.

When I went to Yellowknife for a conference years ago I had to fly ANC-SEA-YVR-to there . . .

Next time I should drive - now THAT would be the right way to do it.

If by easier you mean 44 hours of driving. . . . Big grin, but yes, some incredible scenery along the way.

As far as I know, there is no one on the route at the moment

I know that Condor used to fly (or they still fly) FRA-Whitehorse-ANC, but i am not sure if they sell tickets on Whitehorse-ANC flight only.

We do fly to Fairbanks seasonally, as part of our North sked (still with HS748). The North sked does Dawson, Old Crow and Inuvik year-round, and Fairbanks is added a few days a week during the summer only.
Our Hawkers see Juneau occasionally, but only as charters. Scheduled flights YXY/JNU ended a while back now.

They do, FRA-YXY-ANC-FRA on Tuesdays and FRA-YXY-FAI-FRA on Thursdays. However, this service is only operated from around May through to about October. Not sure if you can book just YXY-ANC/FAI though.

But as said, it is an awesome drive, well worth the extra day or two.

If not mistaken Condor didn't sell local traffic YXY-ANC or YXY-FAI, and if memory correct they only operated those sectors in one direction and returned nonstop from Alaska to FRA.

checkmark  They are triangles, as written above. Aircraft basically flies Frankfurt - Yukon - Alaska - Frankfurt.
