FAA May Ground America West

Sun Aug 27, 2000 6:42 am

Sounds like America West is in some big trouble again.

The FAA today sent a letter to America West saying that the airline will be grounded in week unless they can prove that they did maintence on a fourth of their planes.

I saw that... the article in the Arizona Republic says that America West can prove the maintence on those aircraft and they did cancel several flights to work on about 9 737s. Again we can thank Bill Franke for trying to cut costs on MX a few years back. I personally find this frustrating.

SHUT THE HELL UP SKYTEAM! This is no time for your stupid comments saying America Worst, and talking about rude employees. Rude employees have nothing to do with this situation.

I can't believe how freakin' immature you are, especially with a topic like this.

GO AWAY!

AWA320, I can't believe how immature you are, responding to a little kid like that. Please, grow up. Big boys don't have to use words like that (we can use sarcasm).

Is N708AW still with HP?????
Also where HP is using 44 B737-300s? In my life I saw only one HP B737-300 and it was at IAD.
HP operates A320 and B737-200s to DCA. At EWR I saw only HP B757-200 and A320. At BWI B757-200, A320 and CRJ. BOS B757s and A320s.
Where they use B737-300s??

We have quite a few 733's on the West Coast routes. Here at SMF, we see many each day departing to PHX and SNA.

Jee-zuz SKYTEAM!

Anyhoo, what types of aircraft are their maintenance problems regarding? 733's only or also 732's, A320's, etc?

Listen here, I don't need to hear comments from you either. I'm a little upset at this time... perhaps you don't understand that this is the airline that I work for, and am a little worried about what might happen. During this time, I really have no toleration for idiotic posts about America Worst.

Thank you and Have a great day!

"Listen here"...Thanks, Granny. I'll keep it in mind!

The AWA-bashing will only grow worse over the next few days, so do us and yourself a favor--either stay off the forum*, or grow some thicker skin.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this happened about two years ago... The FAA grounded AmWest causing havoc throughout the system in Fall 1998. I wonder if the FAA grounds AmWest again what result that would have. But from what i have read in today's Arizona Republic is that AmWest officials say they will be able to document MX on the 733s. Like I said in my earlier post they pulled several 733's out for MX this past week. I just hope Franke and his buddies up at the corporate retreat in Montana do something meaningful about this turn of events.

I believe this only involves the 737-300's, which rarely get further east than the Mississippi River.

Why are there problems specifically with the 733's then? If it is the airline maintenance then shouldn't it involve other fleet types?

Here is the story from the Arizona Republic... I can't tell why it only effects the 733 fleet.

Don't let anybody in here keep you from this forum or tell you what to do. I can understand your situation and I do hope the best for yourself and the rest of the employees at America West.

Have you ever flown with America West? Probably not, because you listen to what everyone else says about them, without trying them out for yourself. I flew them for the first time in July, and it was enjoyable. I plan to fly on them again to LAS in OCT.

For those of you here not old enough to even hold down a job, I wouldn't be making comments about how you hope HP is grounded. Thousands of people rely on HP for their incomes to support themselves and their families. It is not easy to stand back and watch your airline go down the toilet in front of your eyes. I know because I just went through it at UA these past few weeks. When you see your job being threatened, you tend to get upset and irritable, to say the least. Dealing with the added stress of not knowing if you are going to have a job next week doesn't make life easy. So don't go and criticize AWA320 for being on the denfensive....he has every right to be.

Thanks For The Support

Mon Aug 28, 2000 9:39 am

I dont mean to speak for AWA320 but for those who understand how he feels or any other airline employee feels when a situation like this occurs thanks for the support. Most airline employees take pride in what we do, WHY? because so many people depend on us to get from a to b. Im not to worried because here at HP the rumor has it that if anything some 737s would be affected if anything not the whole fleet , also I thought Alaska was gonna be grounded for sure and they kept on flying so Im not tripping besides if the suits and ties of the airline say they can back it up then I believe it. As for SKYTEAM he enjoys pissing us off, he gets off on it but yet he continues to fly us.
Thanks .
