BWI Aircraft Incident?

Tue Dec 11, 2007 4:53 pm

I just heard on a local radio here that an Aircraft's engine "fell off" during take-off from BWI moments ago and that it was going to land at DCA or IAD.

I am surprised there is nothing about this on any other news channels or on airliners, can anyone local there confirm?

Thanks

So, does anyone have the reason for the divert?

Looks like he did quite a bit of circling west of IAD:

He's been on the ground at IAD for over four hours now, so obviously there's been some sort of resolution.

According to Airport Operations at BWI, there was no "engine separation" of any aircraft there today. So it was most likely an engine "out" situation instead.

I knew it was most likely an engine out thing and not engine seperation issue, but my coworker argued that thats what he had heard on radio this morning "engine fell off" lol. Anyways he could be right since media does tend to blow thing out of proportion but on the other hand maybe radio host said that an aircraft "lost an engine" and my coworker took "lost" being physically missing engine!

Anyways, appreciate the responses!
