Transferring At JFK

Fri Dec 14, 2007 4:07 pm

I haven't been to JFK for years, and I've never had to transfer there so I can't help, but a friend of mine is transferring from Aer Lingus to Jetblue on Saturday week. How does he get from the International Terminal to the Terminal 6? I presume there is an inter-terminal bus service?

It is not the mess like it was years ago with these buses. You can transfer by Air Train. Here you go:

It's actually one quick stop on the AirTrain - make sure he gets on one going around the right direction. Either the train with a "Jamaica Station" or "Howard Beach" destination is the one to get on... avoid the "intraterminal" train as it usually goes around the loop in the opposite direction. Unless he has time to kill and wants a 10 minute ride, the intraterminal train will hit every terminal eventually but he is only one stop away the other direction.

If your friend is returning in the opposite direction (i.e., JetBlue to Aer Lingus), then the intraterminal train is the only option. He wouldn't want to loop all the way to Howard Beach or Jamaica Station unless he really had some time to kill (probably 45 minutes). All of this is WAY better than the old bus system.
None shall pass!!!!

Thanks Richierich, I'll pass on your info. He's flying back from Barbados with Virgin via LHR. Thanks anyway!

You do claim your bag after the EI flight and have to recheck at B6, but a JFK, I would never allow the carrier to interline transfer my bags to another carrier. It is one of the worst processes I have ever seen in any airport and chances of having your bag make it on the connecting flight with you are very slim. You are better off grabbing your bags and rechecking them in with your second carrier.
