This Monday, Allegiant is starting FWA-FLL, making Fort Wayne one of only 3 markets with service to all five G4 focus cities (the others being RFD and PIA), which is an impressive statistic. Kudos to Allegiant for boosting FWA's pax numbers. Other airlines are boosting their seats, too: DL Connection/RP just upgraded one of their four daily CVG flights from an ERJ-135 to an ERJ-145, and CO Connection/CommutAir will be switching from the B1900 to the Q200 come 2/14/08.
As for 2008, I'm wondering what's in the pipeline? We can count out service to the NYC-area airports due to the mess that's going on at JFK/EWR/LGA... same goes for PHL despite the fact that it would be a perfect fit due to Lincoln Financial's presence in the Fort Wayne area. But IAD on UA Express would work well with the ERJ-145. DEN on UA or F9/RW would be a good fit to boost connections out west (with a CRJ-700 for UA or an E170 for F9). And I still see AirTran coming in soon with ATL and MCO service despite the focus on Caribbean expansion in 2008... after all, FWA's success for G4 is putting it high on FL's radar screen from what I hear. Maybe Midwest Connect/OO to MKE might also fit, as SkyWest handles UAX at FWA. Don't expect Cape Air to IND... FWA is not pursuing the opportunity.
No matter how you slice it, I expect a few announcements before March, because the current incentive package offered (TRIP) ends around then. Of course, they can always start a new one...
Does anyone else see more flights in FWA's future in 2008?
