I've flown a total of 3 flights on 747-200's. The first time was with Pan Am in 1980 from IAH to JFK. I was only 7 years old, so I don't remember specifics of the flight. Then in 1989 I flew JFK-MXP and back FCO-JFK on TWA. I recall the plane being very shaky and rickety upon both landings, but the sheer size of the cabin amazed me. The fact that both flights were only about half full made it seem all the more roomy. It certainly is a great experience flying on the classic 747's.
Just as a side note, I was traveling to Italy with a group of other high schoolers from my county in Houston. We were sort of a county-wide all-star baseball team going to play some low level semi-pro men's teams from Italy on a tour set up by my H.S. coach. As I said, the flight over was about half full, and as night fell and most people were sleeping, we got to know a few girls who were headed to Italy on summer vacation. Well, needless to say, one of my buddies hooked up with one of the girls, they found their way to the back row, and MILE HIGH CLUB Baby! They had no shame! It was like a really bad porn show for all of us. We couldn't stop laughing, but they kept going, and my boy got a bunch of high fives afterwards. The chick just went back to her seat, and that was that! They didn't say one word to each other after. Luckily my coach was asleep the whole time, because my friend would have found himself on the first flight back home if he got caught. Oh, those high school days.
