TG's 2008 Expansion Plans?

Wed Dec 19, 2007 6:06 am

What are the expansion plans for TG in 2008? Do they have any very unique routes that are under served by others and only benefiting TG? (LAX-BKK)

This certainly seems to be an airline to watch.

Cheers,

Don't know for their expansion plan for 2008 , but in 2008 they will place a large WB and NB order.
Probably BKK-LAX will be an A380 route for them.

They are looking at increasing flights to PER and MEL.

They are looking at increasing flights to PER and MEL.

PER will increase from 5 to 7pw, most likely 364 seat B773.

MEL will increase from 12 to 14 pw, all B772ER ops.

BNE will have three turnarounds added (most likely B772), and perhaps 4pw via SYD inbound/direct outbound.

Not quite sure what TG will do with overnight service ex-SYD... without the BNE stop, flight will arrive 0300 - 0330... less than ideal for connections!

Is Manchester coming online? The Manchester-Bangkok route MUST be one of the largest markets currently unserved from BKK.

The A380 does not have the range to do BKK-LAX non-stop with any useful payload.

Perhaps, the former TG774 and TG775 will be brought back, BKK-KIX-LAX-KIX-BKK... however I can't see profitability with an A380 and a KIX stop...

Are they really going to add more capacity to the U.S., last we heard, the flights to LAX and NYC were struggling....

Just curious if they have added additional capacity for the month on Dec/Jan on SYD-BKK services... Iv noticed the 4 weekly has gone to a daily service... Unless what I witnessed was a delayed service...

TG 993 / TG 994 B772 ARR 635 DEP 0855

They should fly to DUB. It is hugely under served in eastbound long haul flights. There is quite a large market of travel between Ireland and Australasia with currently only EY offering same airline service. I also believe that BKK is geographically advantaged for such a route because DUB's runway is limited for long haul flights to places like SIN and HKG, but BKK is just in the reach.

Also wondering whether or not TG will swap AKL's 346 for MXP's 772? Seems as if MXP needs more premium seats, while AKL needs more economy seats.
