Southwest OAK-DEN

Hello,

Im non-reving on flight 1760 from OAK-DEN on the 21DEC and im curious as to what type aircraft it'll be operated with if anyone knows. And if anyone from SWA knows the loads would be very helpful! THANKS

Since it is outside of Texas and the surrounding area, it is almost assuredly not a -500, which means 137 seats no matter what. Looking at the schedule right now, it looks to be a -700, though as OPNLguy is so fond of saying "that can change at any time"

1760 appears to be a 73C=737-300 With Winglets, however this is not always the case.

40 seats seems to be open so far on board.

OK, now this is probably a pretty stupid question, but what does non-revving mean. I assume it means non-revenueing, but I'm not sure and if it does mean non-revenueing what does non-revenueing mean?

Your right, Simply means to fly without a confirmed seat or paying for the seat.

There are different forms of on revving, but the basic gist is you didn't pay for the seat and your never confirmed.

I think that answers it, you shouldn't worry. I have had to standby on a BUR-LAS flight that was oversold and was 9 on the waiting list of 12. Everyone got on and the flight had open seats.

Basically non-revving is a heavily discounted plane ticket available to airline employees and their immediate family. Sometimes friends of airline employees can fly on these tickets. That is usually referred to as a Buddy Pass. Back when my father worked for UA, flying privileges were known as employee passes. In the 1970's and 80's when I was a kid, you could fly from EWR to SFO/LAX for $20 each way in Y class and it was around $40 each way in F class. EWR-ORD was something like $7 and EWR-DEN was $15. I think the airfare was deducted from the employees paycheck although I never asked my father how it was handled. In the early 70's you had to put in a request for a ticket where you identified which cities you wanted to travel between. For the first couple of years my Dad worked for UA, our family was allowed to fly on passes 2 or 3 times a year. After he built up seniority, travel privileges became unlimited. UA started the Write Your Own employee passes in the early 80's. There were 4 tickets in each book. Each ticket had 4 lines where you wrote which city you wanted to fly to. If that flight was full, you crossed it out and filled in an alternative city. So lets say I wanted to fly EWR-SFO. I would write in SFO on the first line stand by for the nonstop. If it was full, I would cross SFO out and write in DEN on the second line and stand by for that flight. In DEN I would fill in SFO on the top line of the second ticket in the booklet and stand by for that flight and hope to get on. I always had to be wearing a collared shirt and have a tie handy in case Y was full and I had to sit in F. People flying on passes had to be well dressed. If you were not wearing acceptable clothing, you were denied boarding. Back then only Stewardesses were allowed to wear miniskirts and revealing clothing  Wink

Employees of one airline can often non-rev on other airlines. The cost of travel varies depending on what airline you want to fly on. Alot of that changed when the Feds made the decision that flying privileges should be taxed. That was right about the time that I lost my pass privileges because I was turning 23 years old and not living on my fathers dime. Each airline has its own system for allowing their employees, family and sometimes friends to travel for almost nothing aka non-revving privileges....

This probably more info that you wanted to know, but now you know........

I was just on this flight a couple weeks ago...and I've been on it two other times. All of them were on 737-700s.

Well I show it scheduled as a 73C still.

Which means 737-300 with Winglets.

Of course always subject to change.

I have non-revved on WN a lot, and I have never heard of anything like this. Granted, I don't work for WN, but if you get an A Boarding Group, I suppose you can sit basically anywhere you want.

Yea thats what i heard but a res agent said sit behind row 14? What are the best seats on the -300 and the -700?

Geez.....for all the bitching people do about UA flight benefits, we pay a LOT less now. All flights in economy are free, including international flights. Business and First are charged (payroll deduct), but not really even close to those prices.

I nonrevved on WN for the first time a couple weeks back, and they didn't do anything like this. Once you got your boarding group (gag..) you're free to sit wherever you want. On my DEN-LAS flight I sad in 3D, IIRC. The LAS-DEN flight I sat pretty far back, but only because I got my own row that way.

Also, keep in mind, what the agents SAY and what is actually DONE, can be very different!!!

As of right now it shows aircraft 639 which is a 733 without winglets. You should be good to go. It's showing plenty of seats available right now.
