LHR And CDG

Mon Aug 28, 2000 1:57 pm

I will be flying into LHR and out of CDG on United. Can anyone enlighten me about United's operations out of these airports (destinations, aircraft, etc)? Are there any good places to spot for maybe an hour or so from the terminal? What runways are generally used? Thanks for any info.

It depends on where you are flying from (into LHR) or to (from CDG) for the aircraft type. From/to SFO, UA has 1 daily nonstop CDG flight using a 777, to/from LHR they have 2 daily nonstops (one 777, and one 747-400)-I think that is still true. UA at CDG would use CDG1 (AF's expansive terminals are on the other side at CDG2-built in the late 70's, but still continually added onto). Both CDG1 and CDG2 are completely different from each other in looks. I always fly AF, but I have always had a fondness for the CDG1 terminal with its round building and transparent escalator tubes going every which way. It may be getting old (built in late 60's?), but it still is a fascinating place and was/is kind of futuristic in a sense. my opnion. UA has several flights from other major cities to LHR/CDG so others might be able to answer much better!

United operates about 16 flights a day to London Heathrow. And I think 9 from Charles De Gaulle. CDG 1 was actually opened in the mid 70's, CDG 2 opened in the late 1980s and has been continually expanded. UA's standard transatlantic equipment are the 767-300 or the 777-200... and occasionally a 747-400.

UA At CDG

UA uses the 772 and sometimes (but not on a regular basis) the 763,for its flights out of CDG1 which are
CDG-IAD-MIA
CDG-IAD-MSY
CDG-SFO
CDG-LAX-SAN
CDG-ORD
the best place to spot is in the UA "satellite 1":after check in and police control.great place to spot since you have a view on runway.a word of advice,if you wanna have time to spot, come early for check in because it's usually over-crowded and our good old terminal 1 cannot take it any more...
