Hello,

The aircraft was repaired and checked before entering into service again, before it was retired with the rest of the A300 at Air France AFAIK.

Best regards,

Indeed AKelley728 is correct, the aircraft never flew again after the hijacking, as some of the frame was considerably damaged with machine gun fire during the french special forces rescue attempt. The a/c was written off immediately following this incident.

It was indeed written off, as far as I know due to substantial bullet damage to the cockpit. It was quite old after all.

Question Regarding Write-Off

Wed Aug 30, 2000 6:48 pm

If this A300 was damaged "beyond reasonable economic repair" in Algeria, how was it transferred back to Marseilles? Was it broken up and shipped, or somehow flown back?

Britt,

the highjacking ended in Marseilles. To my knowledge, the aircraft hasn´t moved since.
