Where Are The Grounded Concordes Parked

Sat Sep 02, 2000 6:19 pm

Where are the grounded Concordes parked? Are they all at "home" at their respective airports or are some sitting at New York? Thanks, Chris

BA have all 7 Concordesat Heathrow (4 outside and 3 inside under maintenance)

Air France Have 4 in Paris and 1 (F-BVFC) sealed up on the apron at New York, BA also had 1 in New York but they flew it back home with just the crew.

Air France should have flown 'FC' home as it is not the best place for it if it need work done it before it gets back in the air.

The fleet can still fly but not carry passengers.

One AF Concorde that couldn't get home before the grounding is parked at JFK. The others all made it back home.

Kind of reminds me of the DC-10 groundings back in 1980 after the AA crash at ORD. Swissair had a DC-10 sitting at BOS for nearly a month before they were able to ferry it back home to ZRH.
