AA's Ex-Reno A/C Retire Sked

Mon Sep 04, 2000 12:33 am

For those who wanted to know, here's the lastest retirement schedule for ex-Reno aircraft at AA as of 8/22/00 from AA's Aircraft Maintenance Planning section.

Format is: A/C nose number / type / release from AA's schedule / park date at A.A.R. (at OKC I think) for required maintenance / lease return date/lessor.

Photographers take note there will be no more white AA birds flying the line by year end 2001.

What routes are the MD-90s and MD-87s being used on?

I don't know about the '87's, but the '90's are almost, if not entirely used on the SNA-SJC route.

MD90s are used exclusively on SNA/LAX-SFO/SJC routes. Only time we go anywhere else is when diverting for mechanical or weather problem.

Will these planes be replaced by the 20 757s that AA ordered? IIRC they are being delivered in 2002, which would leave a capacity gap for about a half a year.

First of the 20 757s is supposed to arrive in April 2001. I haven't seen a delivery schedule in a long time as I don't get to "the schoolhouse" very often since we don't leave Calif.   If I can remember, I'll ask the maintenance folks at SNA. They seem to get the most accurate info, albeit sometimes delayed (the info posted was from an 8/31 fax but originally dated a week earlier).
