Delta, they inheirited much of Pan Am's trans-atlantic routes, except for LHR. Delta claims to have more transatlantic flights than all european carriers to the US combined.

Delta also claims to be the number one US carrier to Mexico, which it OBVIOUSLY is not. They include Aeromexicos' flights with this statement, so maybe they include AFs on the European data.

Even if DL included AF it wouldn't make much of a difference. Delta serves more cities in France from the US than AF. They service Paris-Charles De Gaulle, Nice, and Lyon.

But Continental has the most destinations in Mexico of any US carrier.

Hello all it's me again, the nutter.Anyways, in response to your question, yes the answer is Delta. They serve more destinations in Europe at 23, while United serves, I believe, 18. Delta are the #1 airline from the US to Europe. BUT the other way around, the answer is that no airline serves as many destinations in the US from Europe than British Airways.Delta serves the most EU destinations from Atlanta, Cincinnati and JFK, and BA serves more US destinations NON=STOP from Europe to the US.FLY DELTA JETS and sail UNITED STATES LINESN 8 6 3 D A

United? United may have alot of transatlantic flights, but in terms of destinations, its not that many. They don't serve any secondary cities, i.e. GLA, LIS, ATH, etc...

Let me repost my last message, as it seems that it didn't work very well - at all and is completely unreadable. (I did it on a WebTV at a friends house and it certainly didn't come out right.)

Sorry 'bout that.

Just as a correction to N863DA's post, CO serves the second most European destinations from the U.S. at 16. UA serves only 8 destinations in Europe. Here are the lists as of May 2000:

Most cities served in Europe:
1. DL (20) now increased to 22 or 23
2. CO (16)
3. AA (12)
4. UA (8)
5. US (7) soon to be 8 with new service to AMS
6. NW (6)
7. TW (4)

Most gateways to Europe:
1. AA (8)
2. UA (7)
3. NW (6)
4. DL, CO, US (3)
5. TW (2)

Most flights from U.S. to Europe:
1. DL (40)
2. AA (39)
3. UA (31)
4. CO (23)
5. NW (16)
6. US (13)
7. TW (5)

Some of the #'s for the # of flights to Europe have changed slightly in the last 4 months also, but DL is still the leader at I believe 43, but the positions haven't changed. That's all!

In terms of RPMs, if you looked at the DOT stats, United used to be the largest carrier to Europe. However, Delta recently overtook them in terms of monthly RPMs (I believe this year, in fact).

By gateway, I meant most different American cities with service to Europe. CO's 3 gateways to Europe are IAH, EWR, and CLE because they have nonstops to Europe from each of these cities.

ContinentalEWR, my list is accurate as of May 2000. CO is not second to Europe in terms of frequencies. The number of frequencies on my list has changed slightly, but the order of airlines is still the same. CO is fourth behind DL, AA, and UA in that order.
