SAA recently acquired two B747-4F6 aircraft... I would like to know what engines they use. The rest of the SAA 747-444 fleet use the RB211-524h.... but I have noticed the exhaust cone on the 4f6's engine is quite different... it is more visible than the RR. Anybody know what engine it is?

The client code "F6" indicated they were originally built for Phillippine Airlines, meaning that they have GE CF6-series engines.

N949WP is correct. The two 747-4F6 were ex-PAL. I believe that these were repossesed from PAL when they couldn't pay up during the airlines recent shut down. They ordered four 747-400s but only two are in service (might be wrong at this one).

Actually I believe the Phillippine 744's in question were never delivered, as opposed to being repossessed. I could be wrong though. I know at least 2 of them lived at Marana for a while after they came off of the assembly line.
