SEA Taking DL's PDX Traffic

Thu Sep 07, 2000 3:37 am

The topic was brought up of Delta shifting Asian traffic to SEA after dropping PDX. Currently, UA, AA, and NW operate daily, non-stop flights from SEA to NRT. The addition of one more doesn't seem logical. Perhaps DL could operate SEA-NGO or SEA-KIX, currently flown by NW only. Certainly the SEA-HKG route needs service again, as well as some other cities from SEA. Please give your opinion.

With regard to SEA-HKG, I'm not so sure anyone is too eager to re-start that. Previous non-stop services between the two cities have not lasted more than a few years (UA during the mid- 80's, and NW in the mid-90's). One of the problems SEA faces when trying to attract international traffic is its proximity to YVR, of which there are now already four non-stops to HKG everyday (AC, CP, and 2 CX).
