Tu154 Photo--can You Identify The Airline?

Thu Sep 07, 2000 8:11 am

Hi,

I took this photo on Saturday, September 2nd of a Tu154M taking off from runway 6R at Dorval airport in Montreal, Canada. It's the first time I've ever seen a Tu154 and I was lucky enough to capture it on film. It's not the best photo but I'm curious whether anyone can identify the airline? I checked and there's nothing with the registration number EW 85815 on Airliners.net and I couldn't find another Tu154 which matches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can see the photo by following this link (I will try submitting the photo but it was taken under much less than ideal conditions so it's not very good):

Many thanks,

I don't know the airline, but the word ``Belorus'' is written
on the front part of the plane. I assume its Belorussian airline.

This Tu-154M belongs to Belavia (the national carrier), however it is operated in a VIP (49 pax) configuration for the Belarus Government.

It was only manufactured in 1995 and has a C/N of 1010.

I believe this plane is owned by the Government of Belarus. In fact, similar(if not same)plane landed at Belgrade Airport when President Lukashenko visited Yugoslavia during bombing campaign.

Apparently yes as there is a national emblem painted on the tail and a country (not airline) name written. A flag-carrier airline usually has flag, not national emblem painted. By the way, it looks almost the same (or is exactly the same) as the Soviet Belorussia national emblem was. The same about flag. As far as I know no other post-Soviet country restored Soviet-time state symbolic...

EW is the code prefix for Belarus. My question is, what were they doing at Dorval? Something to do with hockey maybe?

Howdy

I am keeping a list of the Russian aircraft in service around the world (kinda out of date now), but the basic information is obtained from JP Airline Fleets (www.buchair.net)

Cheers
