UAL DC-10 Makes Low Pass Over BGR (Bangor,ME)

Sat Sep 09, 2000 8:12 pm

Less than 1 hour ago (Saturday, September 9 11:09AM ET) I watched a United Airlines DC-10 make a very low pass over BGR (Bangor, ME). I would estimate that the aircraft was at about 9,000ft. It was moving in a south-easterly direction. It did not appear to deviate from it's course either. Does anyone have any information on what could have been going on? I know that BGR is a frequently used divert for transatlantic flights just about to head over the Atlantic, but I was unaware if UAL was using any DC-10's on transatlantic flights. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated.

I Suppose It Could Have Been Departing

Now that I think about it, it is possible that the UAL DC-10 could have just taken off from BGR. If it did, it's heading and altitude would properly corrspond. Any thoughts you may have are appreciated.

Most likely an approach to BOS. I see low flying planes when spotting at PVD that arent landing ther, they are continuing to BOS.
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

It could be a cargo plane
