UA New Asia-Pacific Routes

Sun Sep 10, 2000 6:16 am

What new routes does UA plan to initiate in the Asia-Pacific region in the next 5 years?

SFO-BKK?
LAX-BNE?
ORD-SEL?
SEA-TPE?
HNL-Osaka?
IAD-NRT?
JFK-HKG?

Have they started ORD-PUD yet? If not, I think they will in the next few months.

I know JFK-HKG is one of them. UA is considering resuming MNL passenger service from NRT or SEL. IAD-NRT is NOT up for consideration.

PUD should be read as PVG = Pu Dong Airport in Shanghai.

United code shares with ANA on flights between IAD-NRT. But I hope UA will relaunch some flights out of Taipei because I believe Taipei is still a big market for US airlines or may be Kaohsiung will be a good idea.

US carriers are still missing vital links into Malaysia and Indonesia - two large and important markets.

...except for Northwest who has wisely teamed up with Malaysia Airlines to offer American travellers Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
