Bill Gates does not have a private plane. He and his staff not only fly commercial but coach as well. If they fly overseas then he (they) fly in business. Here's a man who could own a fleet of 747-400's, one for every day of the week, but this is what he chooses to do.

Paul Allen, however, has his own techno-tricked out 757.

Actually, at the insistence of his wife and his parents, Bill Gates has bought a private plane for himself lately for security reasons.

However, I believe the plane is not a Gulfstream V or the Bombardier Global Express, though.

Actually the last time he visited India, a friend who works at the airport said he came in a Learjet. But here in India, 'Learjet' is a generic name for a small jet with 2 engines on the tail! So it could be anything!

But it definitely isnt a 757.

I saw Bill sitting in First Class on an Alaska SEA-SJC flight in April of 1994. I was in the bulkhead row of coach, he was in the last row of First. There was some chattering amongst the F/As, but I overheard one say that "he's a regular." Before landing, an F/A announced over the PA system that "in preperation for landing, you should (turn off all portable electronic devices) and start 'downloading your computers! ' "

Oops!

A couple of days ago Bill Gates arrived in Melbourne, Australia for the World Economic Forum in a biz-jet, but i'm not sure what kind it was. Sorry.

A friend of mine insists he was sitting next to Bill Gates in coach on a United flight from London to Washington 2 years ago, and he had an interesting discussion about internet with him... We don't believe him for 100% because he likes to exaggerate and he can't show any businesscards or so.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

What's interesting is that William H. Gates III does NOT fly a Gulfstream V or a Bombardier Global Express for his private jet. This is in sharp contrast to other computer industry billionaires like Mark Cuban, Larry Ellison, and Steve Jobs, all three of whom fly the Gulfstream V.

Mind you, I think Gates should have a Gulfstream V, if only to fly almost anywhere in the world with at most two fuel stops.
