BRUSSELS TO BE US AIRWAYS' NINTH EUROPEAN DESTINATION
ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 13, 2000 -- US Airways is filing for authority to begin new nonstop daily roundtrip service to Brussels, Belgium, from its Philadelphia hub, effective May 9, 2001. From Brussels, the first flight is planned to depart on May 10, 2001. Brussels, the seat of the European Commission and a center of European commerce and government, will be US Airways’ ninth European destination.
The new flight, subject to government approval, will depart daily from Philadelphia at 8:15 p.m., and will arrive in Brussels at 10 a.m., the following morning. From Brussels, the flight will depart at 12:15 p.m., and will arrive in Philadelphia at 3 p.m. US Airways will operate the new service with the 203-seat Boeing 767-200 aircraft.
"Brussels is a major crossroads for all of Europe and US Airways’ new service links Philadelphia with a major international capital, a city with multi-national companies and a world center for global commerce and government," said US Airways Chairman Stephen M. Wolf. "We are delighted to introduce Brussels, our ninth European destination, to customers in more than 60 communities with US Airways service through Philadelphia."
US Airways’ transatlantic destinations include Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Rome. US Airways will resume service to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on April 11, 2001.
In addition to Europe, US Airways, US Airways Express, US Airways Shuttle and low-fare MetroJet fly to 196 destinations, including 38 states in the U.S., Bermuda, Cancun, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Nassau, San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Croix, and the Canadian destinations of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Hamilton and London, Ontario. US Airways will begin daily nonstop service to Santo Domingo and Aruba on Nov. 12, 2000
