A couple of news articles are popping up saying that Malaysian and Qantas are in discussions about the later taking up an "equity" in the Malaysian Airline. Which I think is interesting for a number of factors. Will Qantas now stop over in KL rather than Bangkok and Singapore on the way to Europe, at this stage Qantas has very limited services in to KL. Obviously MAS' comprehensive European and Middle Eastern coverage will certainly benefit Qantas.
Will this mean a full fledged alliance where each carrier will modify their schedules to offer seamless travel, much like KLM and NW do, or is there only going to be an alliance on routes between Australia and Malaysia?
Will this lead to Malaysian joining the oneworld alliance?
Coming on the heels of KL and BA in similar discussions, is it mere coincidence considering KL and MAS are already part of the wings alliance. Are all of KL's partners going to go over to Oneworld, such as Emirates, Kenya airways e.t.c.
What do you guys and girls think?
