The RetroJet 757 is AA's flagship and is still flying strong.

I think that it is still flying in the retrojet colors but it won't last much longer (I saw it in Chicago six months ago). The purpose of doing that was to celebrate last year the 40th anniversary of American Airlines' entrance into the jet age. So once this particular 757 is due for its next D Check, it'll be repainted in the current AA scheme. Who knows? Maybe they'll do it again in ten years from now to celebrate a half century of the jet age .

Best regards,

As I recall hearing, people liked the Retrojet colours, however the 757 will be (or already is) repainted into standard American colours. I saw this plane in Boston about a month ago. I also remember hearing that they will be painting a new 737-823 in retrojet colours after the 757 is back in regular colours. A 737-800 would be interesting.

Actually, AA should paint a new 777-200ER in the "AstroJet" scheme. Better that than a 737-800.

It could be a while before they repaint it the AA 757. The SAA 747 painted in the colours for the 2004 Olympic Bid and which took the participants to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics is still flying in those colours. Saw it yesterday.

I'd love to see AA paint a B727-200 in Retrojet livery- a retro jet in Retrojet!
