What Is The Difference Between An A330&A340?

Mon Sep 18, 2000 4:01 am

Looking at both aircraft the only difference i can see are the number of engines. Both are used on ultra long haul flights, they both have approximately the same passenger capacity and the flight deck is basically the same. So, if there is any one out there who knows the difference (besides that the A340 has more wheels) please let me know i would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!!

They are not both for ultra long haul. Only the A340 is. The A330 is a medium haul airliner. That is about the only difference between the two.

Lets say the A 330 is for longhaul as e.g. north atlantic and the 340 is for ultra longhaul: Europe to South America, to Japan, to L.A., to Singapore etc.

Some A340s have a stairway in the cabin that lead downstairs to a crew rest area. That would probably be the only difference in the passenger cabin.
