Atlas And Cargolux To Buy More 747-400F's?

Tue Sep 19, 2000 9:36 am

Hi,

Don't you think it's about time that Atlas and Cargolux expand their airline with some more 744F's? I think Atlas should. Cargolux might like to to expland it's US hub. What are your thoughts?

Also, do you think UPS will order a 744F?

Thanks,

B744

Maybe they should, maybe they shouldn't. Why is it you think they should? Atlas just took delivery of 12 744's they had ordered. I believe they are looking at smaller jets now, namely A300-600s.

I highly doubt that Cargolux and Atlas will ever order Airbus's.

Why is that? Why wouldn't they buy Airbus? Also, you didn't answer my question, not that you have to, but why do YOU think Atlas and Cargolux should buy more 744s?

Thanks.

Airlines like Cargolux and Atlas would probably want to keep the same kind of aircraft, just like WN does, to save money. They would definetly want to stick with the same company too, I don't think they want to get too complicated.

I think they should get more 747's for expansion, to become a bigger and better company.

Well, having two types is no big deal, actually, they would have three, since the 742 and 744 fleet isn't common. After all, Atlas is an ACMI operator, so they have to buy what the customer needs, and as you know, not all customers need 747s.

Also, they are expanding, they are buying several 747-300's and converting them to freighters. They have also moved their headquarters to upstate NY, to be closer to their operations.

Atlas is a very well run, and conservative airline. They are one of the, if not THE biggest all cargo ACMI carrier.

Not sure of Cargolux.
