Tuesday's Wall Street Jour - MD11

Wed Sep 20, 2000 1:13 am

The September 19 Wall Street Journal has a page one article about the safety issues surrounding the MD11, including a chart of the safety record of nearly every western commercial jet aircraft ever made for comparison. The 707 and MD11 are neck-in-neck.

I also read it. Not really new news, but extremely interesting nonetheless. Don't think I ever want to fly in the back of one though (tail scraping on the runway).

The in-flight roller coaster ride might be fun though if you knew it would end safely.

Interestingly Surf, according to the chart in the article that shows the hull losses per million takeoffs/landings for all commercial jets since 1959, the DC10 is statistically a much safer aircraft than the MD11!!
