What Is Going On Here?

Wed Sep 20, 2000 5:22 am

Delta has just announced that it will add anothe Portland-JFK flight using a 757. This is just weeks after DL announced they would pull all international service s from PDX and reduce domestic flights as well. So what exactly is Delta trying to do?? Compensate for the lack of connections that will happen as a result of the lesser number of flights from DL hubs? Or could DL be trying to make Portland a "focus city" with the intent to build a better pacific hub there in the future? What do you think?

On a related note, Continental also announced it would start a second PDX-EWR flight using a 737-700.

Delta retimed the JFK-PDX-JFK flight. It's not a new flight. It has been operating for years. Now, Delta wants the flight to connect to transatlantic services, so it will operate from JFK in the late afternoon, instead of the early morning. The current flight is timed to connect to Asia flights at PDX, all of which are being
scrapped.

Hmmmm...I didn't see anything about retiming in the press release. It specifically says "new flight." Where did you get that info?? Thanks .
