I would like anyones comments on an autopilot's autoland feature. I would also like more info on modern autopilots.

Do you think touchdown is harder than usual?

Can you tell the difference?

I flew on a 757 during autoland (I think) into DFW once, and it was a firm landing and a little on the fast side.

B747-400 Autoland

Hi Jeff,
The autoland on the B744 is an amazing feature, with the quality of touchdown maybe a little firm, but touchdown is right on the markers and perfect allowance for any crosswind. Just as a note of interest autoland has to be kept current on landings just like the human landing machines!
